Start a Journal

If your child is at the age when he or she is beginning to read and write, encourage them to upkeep their skills by taking the time to sit down and journal each day. Buy them a new, shiny notebook of their choice, whether their favorite superhero is on the cover or on the other hand, it’s covered in pink. Encourage them to write stories, express their feelings, or even keep note of what they did each day of winter break. Who knows, it might turn into one fun story!

Design their Own Cards

Grandma and grandpa are going to spoil the kids this Christmas, right? The proper way to say thank you to them is with a “thank you” note, and why not write them on a unique card? Pull out all of the craft supplies, from glitter to red and green markers and specialty stickers. Have them create their very own “happy” mail this joyful season.

Send Them on a Hunt

What’s a holiday break without a good, old fashioned scavenger hunt? If you want to be the most creative parent on the block, plan a scavenger hunt. Hide Christmas-themed items, from ornaments to a tin of cookies or even an early Christmas present. If it’s just your own kids playing, tell them whoever the winner is gets to open their presents first on Christmas Eve. Game on!
