Sometimes, playing tourist in your own city is just what you need to liven up a weekend, and City Cruises by Hornblower is a great way to see the sights around DC. They offer several sightseeing boat tours as well as dining cruises – check it out!

Washing Monuments Boat Tour

Save yourself all of the walking and see some of DC’s famous monuments with a boat tour! You’ll cruise along the Potomac and learn more about the Thomas Jefferson Memorial, John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, the Washington Monument, Arlington Memorial Bridge, and more.  Your tour guide will narrate the entire tour with facts, history, and context about the memorials.

Travel by Boat to Mt. Vernon

Skip the traffic and feel the wind in your hair when you take a boat ride to Mt. Vernon. You will have three hours to explore the estate of the nation’s first president on a self-guided tour through the Museum and Education Center and the grounds. You can also purchase separate tickets to enter and tour the mansion; tickets often sell out on the weekends, so it’s a good idea to pre-purchase tickets online in advance.

Monuments Wharf Tour

Similar to the Washington Monuments tour, it lets you see all of the sights and monuments but from one of the famous water taxis. This tour doesn’t include any narration, so be sure to study up on your trivia before you set sail! The tour can be started either at The Wharf or in Georgetown and ended in either location as well.

Meal Cruise

There’s a lot of amazing food in the area, but on a lunch dinner cruise, you can have a delicious meal, music, and gorgeous monument views from the boat. City Cruises offers two styles of dinner cruise – Odyssey and Spirit. Odyssey dinners are served in the newly-renovated dining room and offer plated dinners, table service, and a live band. On the Odyssey cruise, you’ll love the mix of fun and good food with buffet-style meals, a tri-deck yacht, a DJ, a dance floor, and deck games. You’ll love every minute of your meal on the water regardless of which style you choose!
