Maserati is rejoining the world of motorsports in the 2023 Formula E championship. It'll be the first Italian brand to participate in Formula E, and the all-new MC20 might be the turbocharged car to drive the race. After all, the MC in its name does mean "Maserati Corse". Read on to
learn more about this powerful new racing car.
Beautifully Athletic Exterior
Maserati teamed up with the motorsports engineering company, Dallara, to construct the boldly beautiful, MC20 Coupe. The exterior design of the MC20 Coupe is sculpted for aerodynamics using a light carbon-fiber material. The Coupe has butterfly wing doors to make it easier to get in and out of and comes in six exterior colors. A convertible version is expected to join the lineup at a later date.
Innovative New Engine
The 2022 MC20 debuts a brand new Maserati engine, the Nettuno (Italian for Neptune). The Nettuno is a twin-turbo 3.0-liter V-6 engine, capable of producing 207.6 horses per liter. That makes it one of the most power-dense engines available. All told, the Nettuno generates a whopping 621-horsepower, and --- according to the manufacturer --- is capable of galloping from 0-60 in under three seconds. Lead-footing the aluminum gas-pedal will let you experience the MC20 Coupe's top speed of 202 MPH.
The company plans to construct an all-electric version of the vehicle as well. The future EV model of the MC20 will be the first Maserati vehicle to use an electric engine when it arrives.
Driver-Focused Interior Design
The two-seat cabin of the MC20 is completely focused on enhancing the driving experience. The design takes a minimalist approach to eliminate any distractions for the driver, but, of course, throws in toned-down, sporty, luxury features like the black leather seats blue, contrast stitching. The cockpit has a frameless, digital rear-view mirror, a 10.3-inch digital gauge cluster, and a twin 10.3-inch touchscreen display that serves as the infotainment system.
