2023 Maserati Grecale vs 2024 BMW X3
- The 2023 Maserati Grecale starts at $65,300 and is in stock here at Maserati of Tysons, VA!
- Featuring over 500 horsepower, the Grecale can be your everyday commuter and weekend track companion.
- But how does the new Grecale stack up against the 2024 BMW X3?
The Grecale Offers More Performance
Both vehicles offer a base turbocharged 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine, but the Grecale manages to squeeze out more performance out of their standard engine. For the entry level Grecale GT, the turbo four makes a robust 296 horsepower, while in the Modena trim, power is tuned to a sweet 325 horsepower. A perfect amount of power to let loose when you need it, while still managing to be civil for city roads and highways. In its highest Trofeo trim, the Grecale is armed with a twin-turbo V6 and packs 532 horsepower, achieving 0-60 in a mere 3.6 seconds! Perfetta.
The competing BMW X3 manages 248 horsepower out of its 2.0-liter engine for both its sDrive30i (RWD) and xDrive30i (AWD) trims. Do note that the Grecale comes standard with AWD, whereas the X3 is not. In the highest trimmed X3s, the M40i makes 382 horsepower. BMW’s turbocharged inline-6 makes 473 horsepower.
The BMW X3 offers more trims, but the Grecale’s standard AWD and higher performance overshadows the X3’s amount of options.
The Grecale Is More Efficient
As you can see, both the Grecale and X3 offer ample performance. But both surprisingly also offer decent fuel economy. Here’s a quick breakdown.
Grecale
- GT & Modena
25 mpg combined/ 22 mpg city/ 29 mpg hwy - Trofeo
20 mpg combined/ 18 mpg city/ 25 mpg hwy
X3
- sDrive30i
25 mpg combined/ 23 mpg city/ 29 mpg hwy - xDrive30i
24 mpg combined/ 21 mpg city/ 28 mpg hwy - M40i
23 mpg combined/ 21 mpg city/ 26 mpg hwy - M
17 mpg combined/ 15 mpg city/ 20 mpg hwy
On average, the Grecale delivers better fuel economy than the BMW X3. Take into account that the Grecale has higher performance and standard AWD.
The Grecale’s Interior Feels More Premium
The interior of both vehicles are of a higher quality typically found in standard commuter cars. However, the Grecale feels much more premium than the X3’s interior. The Grecale’s dashboard feels uncluttered, with the air vents, dual screens, and metal trims blending together as one coherent design. The X3’s dash looks like a study on cubism – with awkward angles and barren panels making the X3 feel much cheaper than it really is. The Grecale’s leather wrapped dash and steering wheel, premium paddle shifters, and custom metal trim make it a luxury vehicle through and through. Sure, the BMW X3 also offers premium materials, but the way everything is put together, and the level of craftsmanship simply goes to the Grecale.
Concluding Thoughts
At the end of the day, the Grecale checks all the boxes of a great every-day sports car. It’s a hoot to drive, it’s a true luxury vehicle, and it’s even efficient. Sure, the X3 is cheaper, but that’s not the point of a luxury vehicle is it? Don’t join the generic crossover crowd. Drive a Maserati.
