2023 Maserati Grecale Pros & Cons

If you’ve read our 2023 Maserati Grecale review, you’d know that the Maserati Grecale is a versatile luxury SUV with everything you could ask for in a Maserati. Offering insane performance, and luxury features befitting a high-end living space, the Grecale does everything an SUV can do, just much better. For a vehicle that ticks all the boxes, it’s difficult to say what we dislike about the Grecale. However, we’ve tried our best to come up with the pros and cons of owning a Maserati Grecale. Hopefully, this info can help you determine if the Grecale is the right fit for you. (Spoiler Alert: it most certainly is.)

Pro 1: The Grecale Is a Powerhouse

Maserati Grecale Performance

The Maserati name might as well be synonymous with performance, and the Grecale has no problems in that department. The 2023 Maserati Grecale GT and Modena share the same engine, a 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-4, assisted by a mild-hybrid system. With this setup, the Grecale GT produces 296 horsepower and 332 lb-ft of torque, while the Modena delivers a whopping 325 horsepower and 332 lb-ft of torque.

The top-of-the-line Trofeo is armed with a 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 and outputs a staggering 523 horsepower and 457 lb-ft of torque!

Pro 2: Fuel Economy is Pretty Decent

With all that power, fuel economy is sure to suffer right? Well, not quite. Thanks to its mild-hybrid system, the Maserati Grecale GT delivers 22/29 mpg, the Grecale Modena provides 22/29 mpg, and the ferocious Grecale Trofeo offers 18/25 mpg. Regarding efficiency, the Grecale surpasses the competition, such as the Porsche Cayenne and Genesis GV80.

Pro 3: Has a Ton of Safety Features

The Maserati Grecale is a performance vehicle, and safety features have been added to match the Grecale’s level of performance.  Standard and optional safety features include:

  • Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop and Go
    • Maintains a preset distance with the car in front of you while automatically braking and accelerating.
  • Lane Keeping Assist
    • Automatically steers the vehicle to keep you centered and in lane
  • Surround View Camera
    • Access a top-down surround view of the Grecale, and be aware of your surroundings.
  • Highway Assist System
    • Automatically brakes, accelerates, steers, and keeps your Grecale in lane at highway speeds through Level 2 Autonomy.
  • Active Blind Spot Assist
    • Detects and alerts when cars enter your Blind Spot
  • Traffic Sign Recognition
    • Reads and alerts you when going over the speed limit.
  • Forward Collision Warning Plus
    • Reduces risk and damage of rear-end collisions.

Pro 4: It’s a Beauty. Inside and out.

The Grecale is a Maserati product. This means that quality and design have been immaculately prioritized throughout the entire vehicle. With a swath of colorful leather options, custom metal detailing, and aluminum, the Grecale is undoubtedly an Aphrodite among luxury SUVs.

A vast array of wheel designs, metallic and non-metallic paint, and brake caliper colors are also available allowing you to create a one-of-a-kind Grecale.

Pro 5: It’s Also A Good SUV

Some might frown at the words “Maserati SUV”. After all, Maserati is known for their coupes and sedans, not their SUVs. However, the Grecale puts these criticisms to rest. With a passenger volume of 98 cubic feet, and a cargo volume of 20 cubic feet, the Maserati Grecale offers ample space for both passenger and luggage – More than enough space for grocery runs to family road trips. Also, All-Wheel Drive is standard on the Grecale, inspiring confidence wherever you might travel.

Concluding Thoughts

Where’s the cons, you ask? Well, I simply couldn’t find any. According to some critics online, a few critics have complained about the Grecale’s high price and difficult rideability. To answer the first point, yes, the Grecale is expensive. But it’s a Maserati, a brand with heritage, and tradition, at the pinnacle of luxury and performance. Of course, the Grecale will be pricey.  Would I compare a purse from Louis Vuitton and a similar one from Walmart? To answer the second point, the Grecale may be difficult to drive because of its sporty handling, but that too, is expected. It’s a performance vehicle after all. If driving gets tedious,  utilize the Drive Modes and try Comfort mode!
