The Maserati Ghibli is one of a kind. Car buyers looking for a premium sports sedan will find their expectations being blown away as soon as they sit in the vehicle and drive off. The Ghibli is a feature loaded vehicle, which you may expect for a luxury vehicle. Not only is it loaded with feature, but it also has great performance, power, and style turning heads when it drives by a crowd. If you’re entering the super luxury vehicle market, the Ghibli is the most cost efficient option being the least expensive vehicle in the Maserati lineup.
<h2What’s New on the 2019 Maserati Ghibli?
After a somewhat extensive refresh during the previous model year, the newest version of the Maserati Ghibli isn’t expected to change significantly for the 2019 model year. Choices still abound with the Ghibli with three models to choose from: Ghibli (base), Ghibli S, and Ghibli S Q4. The main difference between the three models comes under the hood, as the Ghibli S and Ghibli S Q4 offer a slightly more powerful engine than the base model. You can also choose between GranLusso and GranSport trims on all 2019 Maserati Ghibli models. Just as the names imply, the GranLusso trim puts more of a focus on interior luxury, while the GranSport offers some aggressive exterior enhancements.
Bottom line: there is simply no other luxury sedan on the market that can match the package that the 2019 Ghibli offers. It continues to remain the absolute best choice for power and performance in the luxury four-door sedan segment.
History of the Maserati Ghibli
The Maserati Ghibli history dates back to the 1960s and has had three generations of vehicles over the years: Tipo AM115, Tipo AM336, and TipoM157. The first generation, AM 115, was unveiled in 1966 at the Turin Motor Show in Turin, Italy. The AM115 was produced with a 306 horsepower V8 engine, with a max speed of 155mph and a 0-60 time of 6.8 seconds. This vehicle sounds like it can compete with vehicles of today, so imagine how advanced it was for it’s time in the 1960s! The first generation was produced for the model years 1967-1973.
The second generation Ghibli, Tipo AM336, hit the market in 1992, with a V6 engine. Though it was only a V6 engine, it still provided the same power but a little more compared to the previous generation. Throughout the second generation, Maserati continued to improve upon its performance and the interior and exterior styling. Today’s Ghibli is the third generation, which hit the market in 2013. The Ghibli today is a mid-size luxury sedan which continues the Maserati design, features, and distinctive qualities of Maserati.
